KittyKatBlack's LeechFTP Tutorial

This is a basic tutorial for the FTP program: LeechFTP.

This tutorial is mainly for people wanting to use LeechFTP to run their Keenspace accounts and will only cover the very basic steps needed to access and upload their files to the Keenspace server.

Step 1: Open the program. When the LeechFTP program opens up, you should see something similar to this:

Step 2: Once this comes up, you need to click on the small thunderbolt like button at the top, under where it says File, which is here:

Step 3: When you click on this button, a window will pop up asking you which server you want to connect to, and if you want to log in with a username and password. This screen will look something like this, but with the spaces blank:

Step 4: Fill in the information similar to what I've shown you only replace 'generationomega' (Which is MY username) with your own. Your user name is the site name you signed up for when you got your keenspace account. It's the same one you use when you type "yoursitename.keenspace.com". Your password is the same one you use to log into the keenspace servers. You'll know you've logged in when the small window below the lightnig bolt starts showing text. It should say things like 'logging onto the server' and 'password required' but the information you gave it in the last screen handles all the login process for you. Once you see this, you're ready to go:

Step 5: Once you're logged in, it works exactly like windows explorer. The window on your left shows you what directory you're in. You can go through it like you would your normal windows folders. If you have more than one hard drive (Like me) you can change which hard drive to browse by going up to Local->Change Directory. It's next to File above the connect button. The window on your right shows your directories on the Keenspace server. It works the same way as the other side does. To transfer a file to a directory on the server, simply click on the file in the left-hand window you want to transfer and drag it over to the right-hand window. (Make sure you're in the directory you want the file to go in the right-hand window.)

Step 6: You're file won't be transfered immediately, since it has to send it to the server to be uploaded. You can see which files are waiting to be uploaded in the window next to your browser window. It'll show all the files in queue:

Step 7: This can take a bit of time, depending on your connection and how busy the server is. You'll know when a file has been uploaded when you see something like this in the box above:

Step 8: That's it! Your file is now uploaded and can be used on your site. LeechFTP needs to be manually refreshed to see the new files on the server, and will notifiy you when changes have been made and a refresh is needed.

Just press this button: and it will refresh the server window, showing you all your newly uploaded files.

That's all there is to it! I hope this helps you get on your way to getting your comic displayed to the world. Good luck! ^_^ Click here to go back to the main page.
